TWENTY-FOUR hours ahead of yesterday’s Rugby World Cup semi-final, a fax was slipped under the room door of Clive Woodward at England’s Manly Beach hotel base in Sydney.

"Just win. That's all that matters." It was signed by Jack Charlton.

The 1966 World Cup winner got his wish, in a manner he probably enjoyed, as England smothered France with an awesome display of power and control at the Telstra Stadium.
