Green Carrera revving up to record hat-trick in Killarney

The Joseph O’Brien-trained filly began her three-year-old campaign by finishing second to Spinning Around in a fillies’ handicap at the Curragh at the start of May before going one place better at the same venue later that month.

Royal Ascot heroine Green Carrera can complete a fine hat-trick in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Cairn Rouge Stakes, the feature race on day three of Killarney’s July meeting.

Successful once in three runs as a two-year-old, the Joseph O’Brien-trained filly began her three-year-old campaign by finishing second to Spinning Around in a fillies’ handicap at the Curragh at the start of May before going one place better at the same venue later that month.

From there it was on to the Sandringham Handicap at Royal Ascot where the daughter of Lope De Vega powered home late on to leave 29 rivals trailing in her wake.

The make-up of this race might not allow her to be as visually impressive this time but she should still take the world of beating.

The Denis Hogan-trained Meriden, victorious in each of her last four starts, can give Green Carrera most to think about but may fall short in her bid for a fantastic five-timer.

Elsewhere on the card, Transcript can land the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden for the in-form Donnacha O’Brien.

The Starspangledbanner gelding shaped well when second on debut at Naas last month and should be better for the experience.

The Ger Lyons-trained Elusive Path is another coming here on the back of a runner-up finish, in his case at Limerick, and warrants shortlist consideration.

Aidan O’Brien should ensure his sons don’t grab all the plaudits by winning the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Race courtesy of South Dakota.

Fourth on debut at the Curragh in May, the St Mark’s Basilica colt finished in the same position, albeit a good deal closer to winner Nola Soul, in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.

With the step up to a mile likely to suit, it’ll be a big surprise if South Dakota fails to get off the mark this time.

The Executive Helicopters Handicap looks a tricky puzzle but Tortola ran well on his first start for Eoin Griffin at Bellewstown at the start of this month and the booking on champion jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle is an obvious positive for his prospects of making a belated breakthrough.
