Cost of a City Of Troy cover at stud? €75,000 - though that pales in comparison to super stallion Wootton Bassett

He may not have produced his best in the dirt at the Breeders' Cup but City Of Troy will still have a cool €75,000 cover fee when his stallion life begins next year at Coolmore Stud.
The Aidan O'Brien trained colt, who finished a disappointing eighth in the Classic at the weekend, won four Group 1 races: the Epsom Derby, the Dewhurst Stakes, the International Stakes at York and the Eclipse.
He is one of three new additions to the Coolmore ranks for 2025, the others being Auguste Rodin, who will have an opening free of €30,000 and Henry Longfellow, who has been been introduced at €15,000. It was only announced on Monday that the latter would be retiring to stud.
However, they pale by comparison with proven sire Wootton Bassett, the fees for whom have gone up €100,000 in a year, The sire of 2023 top-level winners such as King Of Steel, Unquestionable and Bucanero Fuerte is standing for a career-high €300,000 in 2025. He is easily the most expensive stallion on the Coolmore roster.
Henry Longfellow has been introduced for €15,000 per cover. “He went unbeaten in three starts at two years including the Group 1 National Stakes just like his sire Dubawi who is becoming a very significant sire of sires.” Coolmore’s director of sales, David O’ Loughlin, said.
“He again showed top class form at three over a mile when beaten just a neck by Rosallion in the St James’s Palace Stakes. He’s arguably the best-looking son of Dubawi to go to stud and he’s out of one of the best Galileo race mares ever. I have no doubt that he will prove extremely popular with breeders.”
