High hopes for Spinacre

Connections of Spinacre have lofty aspirations for the two-year-old filly following her superb victory at Roscommon on Monday evening.

The Kevin Prendergast-trained juvenile hacked up by 10 lengths in a hot-looking renewal of the Irish Stallion Farm EBF Maiden over seven furlongs.

She had previously shown promise when second to Lady Gosford over five furlongs at Naas last month.

James Kelly, husband of successful owner Lisa Kelly, said: "She got injured after her first run (at Navan) and had a few weeks off.

"She was just back 13 days when she ran at Naas and got a bit tired.

"She could run in the Group Three Round Tower Stakes or the Listed Blenheim Stakes at the Curragh in September."
