Long-serving Leopardstown manager Burke to step down

Tom Burke is to retire as general manager at Leopardstown following the Irish Champion Stakes meeting on September 3 after serving the racing industry for more than 40 years.

Tom Burke is to retire as general manager at Leopardstown following the Irish Champion Stakes meeting on September 3 after serving the racing industry for more than 40 years.

Burke joined the Racing Board in 1969 and became part-time Tipperary manager in 1983. He moved to Leopardstown in 1986 and acted as racing manager until 2006 when he became the general manager. He has also had a lengthy spell as part-time manager at Navan.
