Monterosso camp take stock

Connections of Monterosso are in no hurry to make plans for the King Edward VII Stakes winner after he finished fourth in the Irish Derby.

The Mark Johnston-trained colt, owned by Sheikh Mohammed's son, was supplemented at a cost of €150,000 for the Classic at the Curragh where he was only beaten three lengths by the winner Cape Blanco.

That race came just nine days after his Group One triumph at Royal Ascot.

"He's absolutely fine, but we have decided to take a little bit of time and take stock," said Johnston.

"There are no immediate plans, but he's in good form."

Monterosso has already had a busy 2010, running eight times and graduating from maiden company to handicaps to competing at the highest level.
