Newcastle to go ahead

Newcastle clerk of the course James Armstrong has cancelled his planned precautionary inspection and racing goes ahead this afternoon.

Armstrong had been due to check conditions at 8am but after temperatures stayed above freezing overnight, he has no need to walk the course.
