Ayr forced to take a look
Officials at Ayr have announced a 7am inspection ahead of their scheduled meeting tomorrow.
The Scottish venue has been hit by freezing temperatures over the last 24 hours and with conditions unlikely to improve any time soon, clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski is not too optimistic.
âThe problem is the forecast is changeable. I had no worries on Saturday but temperatures were as low as minus four overnight and it is unlikely to get above zero today,â said Peplinski.
âThe course is not completely frozen but it is crunchy in places and we wouldnât have raced today.
âWe will see how things are looking this afternoon and speak to the Met Office about when they think the warm air might arrive. It is a matter of timing.
âAt the moment I would say my confidence is low to medium.â
