Turpin stands to scoop Fairyhouse booty
Dick Turpin bids to scoop some of the massive prize money on offer in the Tattersalls Ireland Sale Stakes at Fairyhouse on Saturday.
After ready victories in small events at Windsor and Salisbury, Richard Hannon’s unbeaten juvenile showed a step up to Group company was within his compass when running away with the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.
He will encounter much more testing conditions at Fairyhouse, but Richard Hannon jnr, son and assistant to the England-based handler, feels there is every chance he can return home with the €147,000 first prize.
“He goes to Ireland in great form and although he has a 5lb penalty, the ground looks like it’s going to be soft, so that should be in his favour,” said Hannon. “It’s a tough race, as you would expect, but I think he should go well.”
