Berry gets busy at Ayr

Alan Berry has high hopes for Look Busy, who bids for back-to-back victories in the Giles Insurance Stakes at Ayr tomorrow.

The daughter of Danetime has been a tremendous servant to the Cockerham trainer.

She won a Group Three in Ireland last summer, captured the Temple Stakes at Haydock this term and was a creditable third behind Serious Attitude and Lesson In Humility over six furlongs at York on her latest start.

Slade O’Hara partnered the filly to land this five-furlong heritage handicap 12 months ago and the apprentice will be in the plate again, taking off a handy 5lb off the top weight.

“We’ve got plenty of weight, I suppose, but at least Slade can take his allowance off,” said Berry.

“It was nearly a lifetime best at York trying to give 10lb to that Group One winner (Serious Attitude). She ran really well and hopefully we’ll get a result with her tomorrow.”

William Muir respects the likes of Look Busy and Reverence in a strong line-up but believes his runner Blue Jack has sound prospects.

The four-year-old appeared to appreciate cut in the ground when winning in good style at Windsor two weeks ago.

“He’s in great shape and we’re going up there because the ground’s going to be good or slightly slower,” said the Hungerford trainer.

“If it’s good to soft it wouldn’t matter because I felt the ground at Windsor was a big factor. We got some cut in the ground that day and he looked quite impressive.

“It’s a big pot so we might as well have a go for it. I think we go there with a chance. He’s got 8st 10lb, which is not overly burdened, but at the top you’ve got two very good horses (Look Busy and Reverence).

“They are both Group-winning horses which would be the best form, but these handicaps can bring Group horses and handicappers together.”

Irish trainer Mark Loughnane sends over the in-form Just For Mary, who is on a hat-trick after two wins at the Curragh recently.

“He’ll like the ground, he’ll like the trip and it’s a good pot, so we thought we’d take a chance,” said the Thurles handler.

“It’s competitive. Look Busy is a very good horse. He’s going up in class, he got put up 13lb for winning the last day. He’s in very good form, I’ve found the key to him.

“The Curragh race was competitive and was worth over €50,000. It would be good if he keeps going.”
