Wachman expresses ground fears
David Wachman is unsure how Bushranger will handle the testing conditions as he prepares to have his first start of the campaign in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh.
The Danetime colt was a dual Group One winner as a juvenile, but both of those successes came on a decent surface.
Heavy ground is forecast for this weekend's showpiece meeting and although it is not ideal for Bushranger, Wachman is keen to give him a run before a likely trip to Royal Ascot.
"He's never experienced conditions like these, but he's ready to go to the races, and we need to start him off with a view of looking towards Royal Ascot," said the trainer.
"There seem to be some obvious mud-lovers in there and hardened horses who have had races like this before.
"I've been happy with our horse's work so we'll just see how we go - but he will obviously improve for the run."
Bushranger faces eight rivals in the Group Three contest, with Curragh specialist Jumbajukiba lining up for Jessica Harrington.
Richard Fahey is double-handed with recent York winner Utmost Respect and Knot In Wood travelling from England, while Jim Bolger saddles Three Rocks.
Snaefell, Georgebernardshow, Icelandic and Senor Benny complete the line-up.
