Outlook bleak for Ayr
Prospects are bleak for the two-day meeting at Ayr on Friday and Saturday.
The course has been frozen for the last three days and the forecast is for more cold weather.
It appears that tomorrow’s inspection at 9.30am will be a formality and result in both days’ racing being abandoned.
“It’s very unlikely we are going to be racing based on the forecast,” said clerk of the course Katherine Self.
“We are having the formality of an inspection on the basis that with a frost the weather can change at the last minute.
“Should we be forced to abandon it would be for both days. The course has not been raceable for the last three days.
“It’s been minus four, then it was minus one last night and we are forecast minus five tonight.
“Realistically we are going to need a serious change in the weather.
“The forecast gives no hope whatsoever for at least the next 10 days. I think it’s pretty much the same for the rest of the country.”
