Frost claims Warwick card

Officials at Warwick have been forced to abandon this afternoon’s meeting due to a frozen track.

The venue experienced a hard overnight frost and with temperatures not set to rise much above freezing today, clerk of the course Andrew Morris was left with no choice but to abandon.

He said: “We went down to minus five and a half degrees last night and it is still only minus three now.

“There is frost in the ground and the daytime temperature is forecast to be zero to plus one so there is no chance of it coming out of the ground.”
