Navan fit for racing

This afternoon’s meeting at Navan will go ahead as planned after the forecast frost failed to materialise.

Course officials inspected the track at 7.30am but there were no problems after a mild night.

“Everything is fine and racing goes ahead,” said Cliff Noone, press officer for the Irish Turf Club.

“They had no frost at all which was what was supposed to be the problem.

“It didn’t get down anywhere near as cold as what they expected or what they were told to expect. They had plenty of cloud cover.

“The ground is heavy.”

The feature race of the day is the Grade One Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Novice Hurdle.
