Snowy back at Clonmel

Willie Mullins is looking forward to seeing Snowy Morning make his seasonal reappearance in the Grade Two Clonmel Oil Chase tomorrow.

The eight-year-old won twice over hurdles last season before going on to be placed in the Irish Hennessy, the Grand National at Aintree and the Punchestown Gold Cup.

He bypassed a clash with Kauto Star in the JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal at the start of the month and Mullins is hoping that was a move that will pay dividends.

“We’re hoping for the best but I’m hoping he is going to improve for the run,” said the County Carlow handler.

“I wasn’t happy with his work on the run-up to Down Royal and we would have been taking on a Gold Cup winner there. We are not taking on anything like that tomorrow.

“His work has improved and there is a lot less opposition so hopefully, he will run a nice race.”

Snowy Morning will face just six rivals in the two and a half mile contest with One Cool Cookie heading the weights.

Light On The Broom was second to Kauto Star at Down Royal and takes his chance again, while the field is completed by Ballistraw, Glenfinn Captain, Kill Devil Hill and Clopf.
