Sunday’s National Hunt meeting at Stratford is already in some doubt after the River Avon burst its banks.

However, despite some of the track being under water and the river yet to reach its peak, course officials are banking on a favourable weather forecast for the rest of the week.

“We are currently heavy, waterlogged in places,” said clerk of the course Stephen Lambert.

“There is another 3.5mm of rain expected between now and Sunday night.

“The river has burst its banks and 15% of the track is already under water and the river is expected to reach its peak shortly.

“However, conditions may improve rapidly.

“We will inspect at 1pm on Thursday.”
