Chepstow check brought forward

Chepstow have been forced to bring forward their scheduled inspection for Friday’s meeting following heavy rain this morning.

Clerk of the course Tim Long had earlier called an inspection for 8am tomorrow to assess the prospects for Friday’s card but will now take a look at 12pm today with prospects looking bleak.

“In the last 40 minutes we have had torrential rain,” said Long.

“We were hoping for a bit of help from the weather ahead of racing on Friday and quite the opposite has occurred.

“We have had over 10 millimetres of rain in the last 40 minutes so we are trying to alert people as soon as possible.

“I am not very optimistic at this stage.”
