Connections of Dar Re Mi were understandably thrilled with her return to action in the Prix de Malleret at Saint-Cloud on Sunday.

Having finished third to subsequent Coronation Stakes winner Lush Lashes in the Musidora at York, she was not able to head to Royal Ascot herself because of the fast ground.

The daughter of Singspiel, trained by John Gosden, took the same spot in the Group Two affair but was beaten just a quarter of a length behind first-placed Treat Gently.

Simon Marsh, racing manager for her owner Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber, said: “It was a great effort. She might have been even closer in another 100 yards but she had a little too much ground to make up.

“No news is good news, but she is probably not even back home yet and I haven’t discussed with the trainer as to what we do next.”

Dar Re Mi holds an entry in the Darley Yorkshire Oaks on August 21.
