A inspection has been called by course officials after temperatures dropped to minus three by the meeting is not expected to be in major doubt.

Clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell said: “We dropped to minus three overnight and I’m out on the course at the moment and it is very cold.

“It has already begun to thaw though and as the first race is not until 2.30pm I would be very hopeful.

“With a bit of luck, by 10am we should know and we hopefully we will not have to call another look.”
