Frost claims Carlisle card

This afternoon’s meeting at Carlisle has been abandoned due to a frozen track.

Clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell was due to inspect the course at 8am but he was forced to take an earlier look after temperatures dropped well below freezing overnight.

He said: “We have abandoned. We went down to minus five last night and it’s still minus four at the moment.

“The Met Office predicts a maximum temperature of one degree and that’s at 3pm, so the frost is not going to come out.”
