Hexham’s meeting on Monday is already under serious threat due to snow and an inspection has been brought forward to 3pm this afternoon.

Clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell was due to check conditions at 8am on Sunday but as the course is currently under three inches of snow, prospects already look bleak.

Fenwicke-Clennell said: “We don’t have much hope I’m afraid.

“It is still under three inches of snow and even if that melted it probably would still not be raceable.

“We’ll make a final decision at 3pm.”
