Binocular takes win at Ascot
Binocular jumped his way into the Triumph Hurdle picture today with an impressive display in the Spargonet Consulting Juvenile Novices' Hurdle at Ascot.
Owner JP McManus is already responsible for ante-post favourite Franchoek, and he now has another leading contender as Coral, Boylesports and Cashmans all offer the four-year-old at 10-1 for the Festival after he scored on his debut for Nicky Henderson.
The mount of Mick Fitzgerald skipped over the nine flights very slickly and pulled right away after the second-last to register a resounding six-length success as the 6-4 joint favourite.
Henderson said: "He has been a natural since day one and has really thrived since we had him gelded.
"I suppose the Triumph will be where he goes, although I haven't spoken to JP as he is on the other side of the world at the moment - and I imagine Mick will be hoping that AP (McCoy) rides Franchoek!"
