Whizz in at Kempton
Willhewiz has dropped down the handicap in recent times but can exploit his lower mark in the Book Now For Boxing Day Handicap at Kempton tomorrow evening.
The seven-year-old had endured a pretty torrid time over the last two seasons, winning at Salisbury in June 2005 and not coming good again until last month.
He reached a career-high mark of 80 after the penultimate victory and duly struggled for the following two years, but came close on a number of occasions - displaying a consistency that arrested his inevitable drop down the ratings.
However, back on a mark of 58 last time, Willhewiz overcame an unfavourable draw in stall one to hold Macademy Royal by a neck over course and distance.
Willhewiz has gone back up for that victory but he still looks to be on a winnable mark.
Coole Dodger makes a quick reappearance in the EBF Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
Brendan Powell’s charge turns out again just 11 days after finishing fourth to Torch Of Freedom over six furlongs at this track.
Tackling a mile for the first time at Kempton, Coole Dodger looks one to get the trip, both on breeding and his staying-on running style.
Chief Exec has been running well on the turf of late and it would be no surprise if he claimed the Panoramic Restaurant Loyalty Scheme Claiming Stakes.
The five-year-old has yet to strike on grass but he is twice a winner on the Lingfield Polytrack and could go well here.
Rich Kid makes his first start for Ron Harris in Wolverhampton’s SP Plus centrebet.com Claiming Stakes.
Formerly trained by Richard Hannon, Rich Kid was a short head winner at Leicester in September before he changed hands at the autumn sales.
The Spartacus colt tries a mile for the first time here and could still be on the upgrade.
Master Medic can give trainer Robert Alner a bit of a boost with victory in the EBF “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle at Lingfield.
The Dorset handler is currently recovering in hospital after a nasty car crash and the majority of racing fans will be hoping this aptly-named winner can triumph.
Winner of his only start over hurdles, Master Medic is a strapping future chaser but he looks the right type to pick up a few more prizes over hurdles first.
Master Medic seemed to have plenty of toe in beating Merlin’s Magic by a short head, and given normal progression, he should give his yard a welcome success.
O’Toole is the pick in the Book Online For Discounted Prices Handicap Chase.
Philip Hobbs’ certainly seems to appreciate quicker ground, as he demonstrated admirably when winning at Stratford earlier in the month.
The eight-year-old was campaigned over hurdles last season but connections seem keen to exploit his lower chasing mark now.
Rated 134 over the smaller obstacles but some 17lb less over fences, O’Toole looks a decent proposition in this two-mile event.
Hobbs can make it an across-the-card double with Baodai, who bids to repeat last month’s course-and-distance success at Bangor.
The five-year-old lines up in the Anne Duchess of Westminster Memorial Handicap Chase and he is taken to regain the winning thread.
Prideus is an interesting contender as he makes his debut for Alan King in the J. R. Pickstock Juvenile Maiden Hurdle.
Trained in France by Carlos Laffon-Parias, the three-year-old was a winner at Lisieux in April so he is obviously not without ability.
