Four-timer for super Seb

Seb Sanders pulled further clear in his battle with Jamie Spencer to become champion jockey thanks to a 491/2-1 four-timer at Redcar.

After closing the gap to four on Thursday evening with a double at Wolverhampton, Spencer further reduced his deficit by riding Countrywide Comet to victory in the Claire & Kenny Got Married In Vegas Claiming Stakes.

At that time, Sanders was stuck in traffic and missed his intended mount.

But the rest of the day was far more enjoyable for the unflinching pilot, who firstly booted home Spinning Lucy in the EBF Christmas Parties At Redcar Maiden Fillies Stakes.

It was then the turn of John Dunlop to provide Sanders with a couple of winners as Benhavis and Double Banded duly obliged.

John Gosden supplied Sanders’ fourth winner as Cape Cobra won the redcarracing.co.uk Maiden in fine style.

Spencer hit back at Wolverhampton’s Friday night meeting, however, with a shrewd ride aboard Elijah Pepper (7-2) in the Sponsor A Race By Calling 0870 220 2442 Maiden Auction Stakes.

Sanders now has 168 winners to his name, with Spencer on 162.
