High hopes for Majestic to develop further
Connections of Sun Chariot winner Majestic Roi expect her to develop into a leading player next term following her victory at Newmarket on Saturday.
Mick Channon’s filly finally fulfilled her early season potential when wearing down Nannina close home to land her first Group One event.
And with the likes of Red Evie, Nannina and Echelon set to depart to the paddocks, owner Jaber Abdullah’s racing manager Bruce Raymond believes she could play a major role next season.
“She deserved it as she has been competing with the best and just finishing behind them,” said Raymond.
“Sometimes she has been undone by a lack of pace or not getting the best of runs – she has been the bridesmaid on more than one occasion.
“It went right for her on Saturday though as the two Cheveley Park horses (Nannina and Echelon) took each other on and then rather pulled up in front which gave her something to go at.
“She proved when she beat Indian Ink in the Fred Darling that she can be very good but she must have fast ground.
“I would like to think she will stay in training as I don’t think she has reached her full potential.
“It wasn’t a fluke on Saturday and as she won’t be competing against the same fillies next year, another generation are going to have to prove they are as good as her.”
