Perrett looking to strike down under

Tungsten Strike has acclimatised to life in Australia ahead of his tilt at the Emirates Melbourne Cup.

Amanda Perrett’s Group Two-winning stayer arrived in Melbourne on Tuesday after a mammoth 33-hour journey.

Ebor scorer Purple Moon, trained by Luca Cumani, accompanied Tungsten Strike.

“He arrived there on Tuesday and has settled in at the quarantine facility (at Sandown),” confirmed Perrett.

“He travelled over as well as can be expected and has not lost too much weight, according to what I’ve been told.

“He won’t run before the Melbourne Cup because he goes well fresh.”

The six-year-old gelding has been a prime asset for Perrett over the years and showed he is as good as ever at Goodwood on his last start.

The chestnut son of Smart Strike hacked up in the Listed March Stakes in August to supplement his Group Three win in the Sagaro Stakes earlier this season.

Tungsten Strike, for whom Darryll Holland has been engaged, is a 40-1 chance with Ladbrokes but only 16-1 with William Hill to win the Flemington showpiece on November 6.
