Bruges team on weather watch
David Myerscough does not want any more rain for promising youngster Bruges, who is entered in Sunday’s Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh.
The Marju colt is unbeaten in two starts and showed real dash to land a Listed prize at Leopardstown in July.
Bruges will be stepping up to a mile in the Group Two event, but may not take his chance if the heavens open.
“The untried trip is a slight question, but he wasn’t stopping at Leopardstown,” reflected Myerscough.
“We might not even run him if there’s too much rain.
“We’ve got him in the Somerville Tatersall race at Newmarket next week as a precaution and that will be under consideration if he doesn’t run at the Curragh.
“I’d love to go to the Dewhurst with him – we’ll just have to see whether he’s good enough.”
Aidan O’Brien’s Lizard Island, runner-up to Rio De La Plata in the Vintage Stakes at Goodwood, is likely to represent the biggest test to Myerscough’s charge.
Lisvale is another progressive contender in the 10-runner field, having won two of his four outings which include taking a Listed scalp at Tipperary.
His latest effort was also impressive when an unlucky-in-running fourth in the Goffs Million.
Trainer David Wachman said: “He’s in good form and I’m very happy with him.
“He did not have the clearest of preparations prior to the last race but did well.
“This is the first time over this trip but I’d be hopeful.”
Edward Lynam is responsible for Capt Chaos, who bids to banish a no-show at the Curragh earlier this month.
Lynam said: “He was disappointing the last time he run but we are hoping he can put that behind us.
“He will like the trip but he’s up against it against some of these.
“We will give it a try but it’s a tough race.”
