Al Qasi team eye Park spoils

Peter Chapple-Hyam again has ground concerns for Al Qasi as he steps up from six furlongs for the first time since his debut in tomorrow’s GNER Park Stakes at Doncaster.

The Classic-winning trainer pulled his colt out of the Betfred Sprint Cup last weekend when he thought the conditions would prove too quick.

Al Qasi made his debut over a mile last June but has done all his winning over six furlongs and usually with cut in the ground.

However, the manner of his victory at the Curragh last time has given the Newmarket trainer confidence.

He told www.peterchapplehyam.com: “Al Qasi stayed on well to win in Ireland and I feel he should be capable of getting seven furlongs.

“He came out of that race well and his work since has been really solid. It may be that the ground at Doncaster is a bit faster than ideal for him but I’d like to think he’ll go well in what looks a hard race.”

Chris Wall’s seven-furlong specialist Wake Up Maggie is likely to give him most think about.
