Osborne launches Richmond raid

Jamie Osborne saddles Royal Ascot hero Drawnfromthepast and dual winner Cee Bargara as he goes in pursuit of Richmond Stakes glory at Goodwood tomorrow.

The pair will face 10 opponents in the six-furlong Group Two attraction but hopes are high they will prove up to the job.

Osborne said: “Both deserve to take their chance and Cee Bargara is a very tough, honest, standard-setting two-year-old, who got a less than enterprising trip at Newmarket last week.

“He probably wasn’t ridden to his strengths at all, so we’ll let him take his chance again and he’s just a tough, durable lad who runs his race and won’t be disgraced.”

While Osborne expects Cee Bargara to show up well, he admits he is especially excited to unleash Windsor Castle Stakes winner Drawnfromthepast.

“I suppose the other lad, Drawnfromthepast, might just have a little bit more class,” he reasoned.

“He won his maiden over six furlongs at Brighton and I think that’s more his trip than the five he won over at Ascot last time.

“I think he won in spite of the five rather than because of it and I think he’s pretty good. His work since Ascot has improved and I’m pretty excited about running him.

“Every time you flick the telly on you seem to hear of something that finished behind him at Ascot coming out and winning again.

“The race was knocked on the day but there were some very good horses in behind him and the form looks very solid.

“It’s a Group Two race and we’re not expecting a penalty kick or anything like that, but I do think he’s pretty good.”
