Matthew O’Connor delivered Loyal Focus with a perfectly-timed run to claim the GPT Galway (Q.R) Handicap, the feature event on the opening day of the Festival meeting.

Dermot Weld’s charge was sent off a 12-1 shot for the two-mile contest but he made a mockery of his price when steaming home by nine lengths from 9-4 favourite Essex.
