Free proves too taxing for Dandy

Tax Free lowered the colours of Ireland’s great sprinting hope Dandy Man in the Naas Sprint Stakes this afternoon.

Tax Free lowered the colours of Ireland’s great sprinting hope Dandy Man in the Naas Sprint Stakes this afternoon.

Sent off odds-on favourite, Dandy Man, racing in the colours of Princess Haya Of Jordan for the first time, looked be travelling best of all with two furlongs to run.

However, Tax Free, a 7-2 chance, showed a smart turn of foot for Adrian Nicholls and went on to win by a length, with another British raider, Desert Lord, back in third.

It was a nice consolation for Nicholls after Moss Vale and Peace Offering finished second and third in France on Sunday.

VC Bet go 12-1 from 16s about the winner’s chance in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on June 23.
