Regime in good shape

Regime has been given a clean bill of health after finishing a disappointing 13th in the Vodafone Derby on Saturday.

Regime has been given a clean bill of health after finishing a disappointing 13th in the Vodafone Derby on Saturday.

There had been initial concern regarding the well-being of the son of Golan, but handler Michael Bell reported the colt to have trotted out sound yesterday morning.

Regime could now bid to restore his reputation in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes on July 7 – a target also mentioned as a potential next port of call for his Derby conqueror Authorized.

Bell, who won the Derby with Motivator in 2005, said: “He may have just tweaked something during the race, and the gradients of the course may have exacerbated that to an extent, but fortunately he seems OK this morning.

“He has an entry in the Eclipse, and he won the Classic Trial over course and distance. However, I will discuss that option with the owners,” he told the Racing Post.
