Day Flight will bypass a second crack at the Blue Square Ormonde Stakes as he is reported to be slightly “below par”.

The John Gosden-trained six-year-old, who landed the Group Three contest in 2005, was taken out of Friday’s Chester feature at the final declaration stage.

“He won’t run in the Ormonde as he’s just a little below par,” said Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah.

“His bloods weren’t quite right so we’ll give him a bit more time.

“I should think we’ll look at the Yorkshire Cup or the Aston Park Stakes at Newbury for him.”

Day Flight has not run since finishing fourth behind Maraahel in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last summer.
