Brittain charge a prime Kandidate

Clive Brittain believes money-spinning five-year-old Kandidate is progressing rapidly enough to take a hand in the Dubai World Cup on Saturday week.

Newmarket-based Brittain is never afraid to take on the big guns with his horses and saddled Kandidate to an emphatic victory in a Group Three event at Nad Al Sheba in February.

He has purposefully been kept fresh since that impressive triumph and will now try to follow up in what is shaping into a mouthwatering renewal of the World Cup.

“Kandidate’s done nothing but improve and he reminds me very much of Warrsan - the older he got, the better he got,” Brittain said.

“I resisted the temptation to run him again in the Maktoum Challenge to keep him fresh for the World Cup.

“I honestly believe if there is a chink in the armour of any of these horses then he’ll find them out as he’s done all the things he’s needed to do and is very fit,” he told At The Races.
