Dettori ready to pounce on Cat

Frankie Dettori is eagerly-awaiting the leg-up on Discreet Cat when the unbeaten four-year-old makes his return to action at Nad Al Sheba on Thursday.

Campaigned in the America since winning the UAE Derby under the Italian 12 months ago, he is the warm favourite for the 6million Dubai World Cup on March 31.

Dettori said: “He is an exciting horse.

“I have not actually sat on him since our win in the UAE Derby, but we saw in the States just how good he is.

“His 7lb Group One penalty obviously makes it a bit harder, but he looks in good order at home and Saeed (bin Suroor) and his (work) rider are very pleased with him.

“Thursday will be the first time I have sat on him this year, but he is an uncomplicated horse to ride and I am really looking forward to it.”

He faces the maximum 15 opponents, including course and distance winners such as last year’s UAE 2000 Guineas winner Gold For Sale, as well as Blatant and Imperialista, winners of the last two renewals of Maktoum Challenge I.
