Sandown to inspect
Officials at Sandown have called an inspection at 3.00pm tomorrow afternoon to determine prospects for Friday’s card, which features the Royal Artillery Gold Cup.
Clerk of the course Andrew Cooper rates the chances of the meeting getting the go-ahead as “50-50” after 20 millimetres of rain fell at the Esher track overnight and this morning, bringing the threat of waterlogging.
He said: “It is not raceable at the moment as there are several areas of waterlogged ground. There isn’t much surface water, but there are wet stretches, and by 3pm we should be able to take stock. We are expecting to stay dry until Friday morning.”
