Icon is Dubai possible

Sixties Icon could be set for a fascinating clash with Sir Percy in the $5 million Dubai Sheema Classic on March 31.

Jeremy Noseda’s St Leger hero could lock horns with his fellow Classic winner after Marcus Tregoning confirmed the race remains firmly on his stable star’s agenda.

After cruising home in the 14-furlong Group One event last September, Sixties Icon travelled to France to contest the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe but failed to get competitive behind Rail Link.

Noseda said: “He returned home a little bit below par following his run in the Arc, so I would be prepared to forgive him that effort.

“He had a little break following the race at Longchamp but has now come back into full training and will very soon be ready to do his first piece of fast work.

“We will see how he progresses and if he comes to hand in sufficient time, it is possible that he could have a tilt at the Sheema Classic in Dubai,” the trainer told www.jeremynoseda.com.
