Hexham gets go-ahead
Today’s racing at Hexham will go ahead as planned after the course passed a 7.30am inspection.
Conditions are described as heavy, after the Northumberland venue has been hit with significant rain in recent days, but officials are confident the course is safe.
Explaining the situation, clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell said: “We go ahead. We got some more rain last night but it was fairly early and we’ve been dry since.
“It’s a bit wet in places but it’s very breezy now and we’ve taken a couple of hurdles and a fence out and we think it’ll be okay.
“It’s blowing a gale now and the forecast is actually for the sun to come out later.”
Action begins at 12.20 with the Tyne Rivers Trust Novices’ Hurdle, run over an extended two miles.
