Victory shows the right spirit at Folkestone

Victory Spirit, trained and saddled for his son Harry by John Dunlop, got off the mark as 11-4 favourite for the six-furlong folkestone-racecourse.co.uk Maiden Auction Stakes.

Victory Spirit, trained and saddled for his son Harry by John Dunlop, got off the mark as 11-4 favourite for the six-furlong folkestone-racecourse.co.uk Maiden Auction Stakes.

A furlong from home there were half a dozen in with a shout, although the market leader appeared to want success more than his rivals and darted home a head in front of Beautiful Madness.

Dunlop senior said: “Harry starts out on his own on October 1 at Lambourn and if they all run like this he will be delighted.

“Next stop for this one could be a seven-furlong nursery. I know I am biased, but my son is a hard worker and he has a wife who is very enthusiastic about the game, which is a must.”
