Darryll Holland is set to return to the saddle next Saturday after being out of action with a broken wrist following a fall at York.

The jockey, who has ridden 51 winners from 450 rides this year and came agonisingly close to landing the Vodafone Derby on Dragon Dancer, sustained the injury when parting company with Blackheath in July.

Holland’s agent Matt Chapman said: “Darryll could have ridden last week but we’ve made the mistake of rushing him back from injury before and so he decided to take an extra week – which was absolutely the right decision.

“He’ll be spot-on for his return, having had serious physio and a week getting fit training with Newcastle United.

“Hopefully he can pick up where he left off.”
