John Dunlop’s Jedburgh landed the first Pattern-race victory of his career as he prevailed in a sprint finish to the Group Three Emirates Airline Minstrel Stakes.

Only three runners went to post for the valuable prize and as Aidan O’Brien’s Tiger Dance faded when the pace quickened, it turned into a match between Dunlop’s five-year-old and John Oxx’s Noelani.

Mick Kinane attempted to steal the race with two to run on Oxx’s charge but Seb Sanders always looked to have him covered and so it proved as the 10-11 favourite got home by a neck.
