Unlucky jump jockey David Dennis faces another spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg for the second time in five months.

Dennis suffered a fall at Hereford on Monday riding Eveon for Ian Williams, only the sixth ride of his comeback which had incidentally started with a 66-1 winner.

The jockey feared the worst though and the news was confirmed after a visit to specialist Michael Foy.

“I’ve got the x-ray and it revealed that the pin in the leg is bent and also the original fracture has separated on the outside,” Dennis said.

“It’s going to take three or four months to heal and it’s possible I will need to have an operation to repin it.

“Dr Foy was certain I hadn’t come back to soon – it was just unfortunate that I landed awkwardly on it.”

The jockey is not contemplating retirement though.

“It’s just one of those things and I will definitely come back,” Dennis told the Racing Post.
