Kelso looks again

This afternoon’s meeting at Kelso hinges on a second inspection.

Although overnight temperatures only reached freezing, a biting wind in Shropshire has hampered the warming-up process this morning.

Clerk of the course Johnnie Fenwicke-Clennell has already held an early-morning inspection but must look again before giving the seven-race card, which begins at 1.50pm, the go-ahead.

“The wind-chill factor is horrendous,” he explained.

“It is is still freezing and we wouldn’t be able to race on it at the moment.”
