Monday’s meeting at Carlisle has been abandoned due to waterlogging.

The Cumbria venue failed an 8am inspection after 16mm of rain fell overnight.

Carlisle has had to withstand just under 10 inches of rainfall since October 12, leaving conditions unsuitable for racing.

“If we all brought our goggles, flippers and wetsuits then we could have been racing,” said Carlisle clerk of the course Jonnie Fenwicke-Clennell.

“It’s still raining now and what with all the rain overnight, we were left with no option other than to call it off.”
