Kieren Fallon's decision to stick to the near side rail proved decisive as he took the Princess Margaret Stakes on 25-1 outsider Mixed Blessing.

Only the eventual winner and Sweet Afton stuck to the stands side, while the rest of the field came down the centre of the track.

Fallon was virtually out on his own on the Alan Jarvis-trained filly and she broke the course record in taking the Group Three event over six furlongs by two lengths from Nidhaal.

Nannina was third, with hot favourite La Chunga only fourth under a 5lb penalty.
