Improving Guest sticking to handicaps

Connections of Notable Guest are in no rush to step the convincing winner of a Newmarket handicap on 2000 Guineas day up in class.

They hope to find a “valuable handicap” for the four-year-old colt, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, before possibly trying him in Pattern company.

The son of Kingmambo scored in great style over 10 furlongs to win by two and a half lengths from Woodcracker on his first race for nine months.

“He’s certainly improved and did very well over the winter. He was quite a weak, backward sort of horse and I think we will probably aim at a valuable handicap with him if we can,” Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Prince Khalid Abdullah told Racing UK.

“We have nothing specific in mind at the moment but I think we would go that route before stepping him up again if he was good enough.”
