Meade to make Passion decision

Trainer Noel Meade will decide later today whether to send Wild Passion over to Sandown Park for the ladbrokes.com Tolworth Hurdle.

The Royal Bond Hurdle winner pleased connections in a workout this morning but has to be checked over before being given the go ahead for Saturday’s Grade One contest.

“His work was very good,” the Co Meath-based handler said. “That end of the job is OK but he has to be scoped as well. He did work very well and that is very positive so we are still looking like we may travel all right.

“I think the Sandown hill would suit him well and he should handle the ground all right. Whatever wins it will be favourite for the Supreme Novices’.”

However, Meade is concerned over the possibility of strong winds disrupting Wild Passion’s journey.

He said: “There are some gales forecast and that could cause problems as well because we’d want to go today or tonight if we were going to go. I don’t want him to have a rough journey and I don’t want to leave it too late to go.”

Wild Passion is vying for favouritism at around 12-1 with Marcel, who is also entered in the Tolworth, for the Letheby & Christopher Supreme Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
