Fallon draws blank at Churchill Downs
Kieren Fallon drew a blank at Churchill Downs in the United States last night as he attempted to follow up the double he recorded on Saturday.
The six-times champion jockey rode Shadowland in the Commonwealth Stakes on the turf track, but was making little progress when he was squeezed for room on the inside in the straight.
The Dale Romans-trained three-year-old, a winner for Andrew Balding at Thirsk in the summer of 2003, was shuffled back and trailed in unplaced.
Fallon earlier had every chance on Nepotism in an allowance race, but the filly was swallowed up at the business end of the contest and finished well behind.
He had produced a vintage ride on Saturday to lift the former Alan Jarvis-trained River Belle over the line a nose in front in the Grade Two Mrs Revere Stakes at the Kentucky track, and also won an allowance race on Sure Prize.
The Co Clare man was invited to Churchill Downs by Team Valor, owners of both River Belle and Shadowland.
