Stoute camp hope to get Rhythm back in swing
Connections of Russian Rhythm are hoping the filly will return from a ligament injury before the end of the season.
The Michael Stoute-trained four-year-old has been on the sidelines since straining a suspensory ligament after winning the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury last month.
Russian Rhythm, winner of last year’s 1000 Guineas, Coronation Stakes and Nassau Stakes, will begin trotting again this week and may return for an autumn campaign.
Chris Richardson, managing director for owner Cheveley Park Stud, told the Racing Post: “We have spoken to our vets and they have told us that, while she has suffered a strain to her off-fore suspensory ligament, it not as bad as it can be the case with such an injury.
“On that basis we are still very hopeful that she will be able to race again this season.
"The is plan it to start her trotting this week, and then gradually build up her exercise towards a back-end campaign.”
