Blue heads Railway Stakes field
Aidan O’Brien’s Russian Blue puts his unbeaten record on the line when lining up for the Anheuser Busch Railway Stakes at the Curragh tomorrow.
The two-year-old Danehill colt is likely to prove a warm order as he goes for his fourth win on the bounce after scoring in a Listed contest at the County Kildare track last month.
Yet to be seriously tested, Russian Blue steps up to six furlongs for the Group Two contest and Ben Sangster, son of the late owner Robert, said: “I’ve spoken to Aidan and he says the horse seems to be in good form and he’s looking forward to running him.
“It was a bit of a blow to miss the Royal meeting with him (due to a setback) but it was only a small problem and we always knew we had this six furlong, Group Two race that was two weeks away in his own back yard.
“He’s recovered from his problem now and we’ll have to see how he gets on before making any further plans.”
Russian Blue faces six rivals in the Railway Stakes including the Dermot Weld-trained Man O World, himself a Listed winner in search of a hat-trick of wins.
Jim Bolger saddles the once raced, and unbeaten, Democratic Deficit while Francis Crowley runs Kay Two and O’Brien also saddles Joyce.
L’Altro Mondo and Spanish raider Koolman complete the field.
